Cardamom is yet one more initially found in the Western Ghats and South India. The Greeks and Romans used it for its intense aroma, and have been the main ingredient in perfumes and aromatic oils. Green Cardamom is used for digestion problems, including heartburn, intestinal spasms, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), diarrhea, constipation, liver and gallbladder complaints, and loss of appetite.
Green cardamom is one of the most expensive spices by weight. The main reason this spice is so expensive is that it needs to be harvested by hand. It is a very labor-intensive hand picking process. Chewing green cardamom after food keeps breath minty as it kills common mouth bacteria. South India has been the motherland for all spices for centuries.
